The Vocational Services program at Athelas Institute, Inc. is designed to assist individuals with intellectual  disabilities in the development of skills, which will enable them to acquire supported, competitive, and volunteer work opportunities according to their goals and preferences. Both in-house work and community options are available.

Skill development areas may include, but are not limited to:

  • Appropriate Work Behavior
  • Career/Interest Exploration
  • Communication
  • Employment Seeking Skills
  • Good Work Practices (e.g. Safety Habits, Concentration, Accuracy, etc.)
  • Self Help
  • Socialization Work
  • Tolerance
  • Vocational Training

Support Services may include group and individual therapy, life management education, community integration activities, transportation/mobility training, behavior support and case management.

 To be admitted into this program, the individual must have an intellectual disability, be at least 18 years of age, have potential to benefit from and participate in a work-oriented program, and have demonstrated desire to participate in services.
