On Friday, February 10, 2017, Athelas had an amazing graduation ceremony for the individuals who participated in the MakingChange Financial Literacy and Job Readiness course. This 6-week course was a partnership between Athelas Supported Employment Department and MakingChange to enhance our individuals’ knowledge of job readiness, retention and financial wellness.
For more than a decade, MakingChange has helped people become financially literate by creating educational programs that are person-centered, user friendly and meaningful. By using these specialized programs, our individuals were able to better understand, retain, and enjoy themselves while learning new skills. Each week, the individuals focused on a different topic. Whether is was financial planning or 60-second interview (first impressions), they were engaged and inquisitive. This program has given our individuals the “keys to financial success.”
We would like to thank Mr. Ken Henderson and Mr. Roy Yenoli from MakingChange for their hard work and dedication to our staff and individuals; as well as Athelas Supervisors, Case Managers and Staff Members for their continued support and encouragement.
