Athelas Institute, Inc.’s Day Habilitation Programs, operating in a business/retail area in Baltimore and Howard counties, are designed to provide a meaningful day to individuals with intellectual disabilities while focusing on their personal needs and preferences. Meaningful days can include activities such as cooking, exercising, and participating in community trips. The purpose of this program is to enhance their skills in an enjoyable and productive environment.
Skill areas that may be addressed include, but are not limited to:
- Daily Living
- Pre-Vocational/Vocational Skills
- Recreation and Leisure
- Self Help
- Survival Skills
The effort is made to provide these participants with skills that will enable them to move on to a more vocationally oriented setting. For those who do not prefer the vocational orientation, the effort focuses on enhancing current skills while providing meaningful activities and challenges throughout the day.
